With embedded interactive maps, dozens of tree photographs, video content, words, and stories, along with links to additional educational information about our trees, this virtual tour will showcase many of the natural wonders that the Cypress Lawn Arboretum has to offer.
We also encourage you to visit us in person, walk the grounds of the Arboretum for yourself, and spend a moment or two in the company of some special trees. Self-guided walking tour brochures of our historic East Campus are available for visitors at our front reception desk. In the future, when it is safe to do so, guided walking and trolley tours will also be offered — so stay tuned!
In these turbulent times, outdoor spaces like Cypress Lawn may be a welcome reprieve from all of our worries and anxieties. Our Arboretum is a safe and beautiful landscape, with thousands of trees to enjoy the peaceful company of. Please come visit us and give yourself some time to celebrate life!
The Cypress Lawn Arboretum has come a long way in the past year. In 2019, our centurial history of caring for a great diversity of trees from all around the world crossed a historic milestone. While we have remained the hallmark cemetery of the Bay Area since 1892, Cypress Lawn was formally recognized as an internationally accredited Level I Arboretum by the global organization ArbNet just last year. We are now actively pursuing Level II ArbNet accreditation, with an expanded platform for community engagement, education that utilizes the living collection to teach us all about the care and well-being of trees throughout the Arboretum, and even a new annual event that is just around the corner! This coming Nov. 18, we will be celebrating our first annual Arboretum Day here at Cypress Lawn. With a live-streamed tree planting ceremony, a virtual silent auction in support of tree care throughout our grounds, Cypress Lawn swag giveaways, and much more, Arboretum Day 2020 will hopefully be just the beginning of a tradition that will last for many years to come.
