“Dancing on the Brink of the World” Monterey Cypress Showcase

April 28 @ 4:30 pm - 8:00 pm

“Dancing on the Brink of the World” returns, for a growing reprise of last year’s inaugural event. In celebration of national Arbor Day, Arboretum Director Josh Gevertz will host a special showcase experience of our namesake tree, the Monterey cypress.  Hop aboard the famed Cypress Lawn trolley for an immersive visit to generations-old cypresses on all four campuses of the Arboretum, as well as a private walk-through of the photography gallery exhibit now on display in the lobby and adjacent rooms of our offices at 1370 El Camino Real.  Learn about the living legacy of this one remarkable species, originating on the rocky California coast at Point Lobos, and traveling by sea and by seed to today grow on every habitable continent on planet Earth, including a remarkable heritage right here at our Memorial Park.  This special cypress celebration will also feature a premier screening of an Arboretum Productions film at our historic Abbey Chapel, a catered reception to conclude the program, and more!

Please note that a donation of $25 for ongoing support of tree care throughout the Arboretum is required to attend this event; larger contributions are welcome, many thanks for your help!
