At Rest at Cypress Lawn: Steve Silver (1944 – 1995)
Throughout his storied career, theatrical genius Steve Silver may have made more people laugh than any other San Franciscan in history. In 1974, he created the zany 90-minute musical “Beach Blanket Babylon.” The revue, which morphed almost daily to reflect current events, became as much a part of San Francisco’s local and tourist scene as Golden Gate Park or the cable car. The show continued even after Silver’s death in 1995, running for an astonishing 45 years until closing its curtains in 2019. Some 6.5 million theatergoers attended the shows over the years.
Silver’s memorial at Cypress Lawn is located within Section F, Lot 277. Click here to view an interactive map of our Memorial Park.
